YPI Education
As well as mainstream classes out of school time, the YPI offer a wealth of activities and workshops to schools and colleges.
YPI specilaise in TIE (Theatre in Education) platforms, including workshops, classes, short courses and the production of middle to large scale productions within schools, youth centres and through council initiatives. We offer primary and secondary schools, as well as colleges, the opportunity to take part in a range of workshops including voice and movement, Shakespeare, physical theatre, mime, stage combat, script analysis and writing, directing and improvisation. We also run a number of workshops based on set texts, including 'The Crucible', 'Metamorphosis', 'Comedy of Errors', 'Romeo and Juliet' and 'The long road'.
The YPI are unlike most theatre companies in that all our workshop leaders are qualified and experienced teachers. Because of this, not only do we have the experience of working with students within a school environment, we also understand the necessity of keeping points relevant to syllabus criteria. This allows us to produce concise, informative workshops, whilst still keeping them fun and enjoyable for the participants to take part in.
Our staff will always consult with the relevant teachers or course leaders before coming into the school. Each workshop is unique and can be tailored to fit your syllabus and learning needs together with differently timed sessions to ensure the school timetable is not unnecessarily disrupted.
